Judy Piatkus founded her publishing company from the bedroom of her home in Essex.  Over 25 years she grew Piatkus Books to become one of the UK's leading independent publishing companies.  Piatkus specialised in lifestyle and fiction publishing and was a pioneer in the area of personal development.
 
Piatkus Books survived and thrived during three very different recessions before Judy achieved a successful sale of the company in the spring of 2007 just before the credit crunch.
